Branding and collateral for the first-ever Arizona Harm Reduction Conference and after party
Sonoran Prevention Works (SPW), a Phoenix-based harm reduction organization, was hosting the first-ever Arizona harm reduction conference. The conference would be a gathering of several audiences including public health organizations, grassroots and underground organizations, funders, people who use drugs, treatment facilities and others. Because of this range of audiences, we needed a conference identity that could be appealing to everyone. We also wanted the identity to feel like it lived within the SPW brand as a way to help position SPW at the forefront of the harm reduction community in Arizona. Finally, the conference would also have an after party that we wanted to have a recognizable identity.
Client: Sonoran Prevention Works
Deliverables: Identity, Conference program, Way-finding, Email Newsletter, Flyers, Conference Landing Page, After Party Landing Page
Role: Designer, Developer
In designing for harm reduction organizations, I avoid stereotypical or stigmatizing elements. This means that rather than syringes, dark colors, and dramatized photos of people looking sad, I lean on brightness and optimism. I anchored the conference identity in SPWs signature orange and leaned on Arizona landscapes for conference imagery. I was then able to take all of these components and further modify them to create the identity for the after party.
